Students will connect with students/young adults attending and/or working in a community college campus area, establishing relationships and foundation for sharing the Gospel.

In an area of less than 3% Christ followers, Maine serves as the largest of all the New England States which makes it full of opportunities for college and university students. With 33 public & private colleges and an enrollment range from under 200 students to over 10,000 students, only 13 campus’ have any type of evangelical presence, although there are over 1000 student groups offered, including a variety of “spiritual” groups.

Maine is considered a vacation land and students should be physically able to participate in outdoor activities (hiking, etc.) since relational evangelism is utilized in ministry opportunities.

Students will meet weekly with supervisor for one on one discipleship as well as be connected to a small group as a participant and be involved in a local church community. Opportunities to grow spiritually through giving leadership will also be provided for students.

Housing

  • Housing to be determined based on gender.
  • Student is responsible for all food and meals.
  • Metro bus is available in greater Portland area; student personal transportation is negotiable.

Useful Skills

Student should be able to take and follow through on instructions given; establish relationships with others, be a team player, as well as independent worker. The ministry opportunities are varied and individual should have several years of discipleship training, be a self starter and comfortable in sharing their relationship with Christ with others who have no understanding of “church language”. Student should have a servant heart, willing to be “about Christ” and not self in all situations, flexible and willing to learn and give leadership as needed. Maine is considered a vacation land and students should be physically able to participate in outdoor activities (hiking, etc.) since relational evangelism is utilized in ministry opportunities. Students will be supervised by a female campus minister.
