Collegiate Disaster Relief Project: Rebuilding New York

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) saw God move in mighty ways through the collegiate teams who participated in the Christmas and Spring Break Collegiate Initiatives during the past two years. Now we are looking forward to what God will do as we invite collegians back to help rebuild more homes on Long Island, NY. The 1,200 volunteers on 88 teams from 93 campuses and church collegiate groups across the United States and Canada have expressed the profound impact the ministry had on their lives.

Jordan Niemeyer, a student at Anderson University in Anderson, IN, said, “There’s nothing that replaces the look on a homeowner’s face when you get to talk with them and you get to share the gospel with them, when you get to look them in the eyes and pray with them and tell them there’s hope in the middle of this destruction.”

Once again students will be hanging sheetrock, replacing damaged woodwork, painting walls, installing cabinets, and more as we help homeowners complete the recovery process. More importantly, our volunteers continue to see God use them to bring Help, Healing and Hope to people who are still living in the midst of destruction.

We encourage you to get your team together and make your plans to join us for some hard work, amazing ministry moments, and an opportunity to connect with other collegians that are living out their faith in Christ.
