The Baptist Collegiate Ministry at LSU was involved in a Disaster Relief project on the weekend of October 26th. Steve Masters reports:
There is a great need for college students to help with Disaster Relief in the areas to the north and east of Panama City, Florida. The 150 MPH winds caused massive damage to homes and businesses and knocked down or tore up almost every tree in the area.
Steve Masters is the BCM Director at LSU. He recently led a team from their BCM to be involved in DR work in Marianna, Florida. He shares, “I have been through hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms, and had a flooded house. I have never seen tree devastation as bad as what has occurred from Hurricane Michael. There is a great need for college students to help with recovery in the area.”
Even if your BCM does not have chainsaws, you can still be used. Any chainsaw unit working can use the college students to pull limbs and pile them up on the street for FEMA to pick up. Contact your State Convention DR Leader to be matched up with a group. There is also a need for debris removal from houses that were damaged.
Our DR network provides lodging and meals for DR volunteers. So, the cost for college students is minimal.

Please also consider doing DR work in the areas hit by Hurricane Michael. The need there is also great.
