Update from the BCNet Discipleship Team

The discipleship team works to establish discipleship strategies for college students.  They focus on identifying working models of discipleship among collegiates both in the church and campus based ministry settings and providing resources to help collegiate workers disciple others more effectively.

Those serving on the team are:

  • Eddie Gilley – BCM director at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida – Chairperson
  • Joe Drummer – Associate Pastor/College Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tennessee
  • John Aaron Matthew – BCM director at Tennessee Tech University, Cookeville, Tennessee
  • Jonathan Clark – BCM director at Murray State University, Murray, Kentucky
  • Samwoo Kim – Church Planter at the Point, Vancouver, BC, Canada
  • Brian Combs – Collegiate State Director, Kentucky Baptist Convention, Louisville, Kentucky

Highlights:

  • Published a series of blogs from notable leaders of collegiate ministry and other ministry leaders on the waypoints of discipleship in an attempt to encourage a common definition of the basics of discipleship for collegiate ministries.
  • Working on collecting effective discipleship models that are currently being used to provide a resource for collegiate ministers looking to enhance their own discipleship in their ministry settings.
  • Began the process of producing or selecting a resource for beginning the discipleship journey for highly educated men and women who place their faith in Jesus in a college setting.
